An Online Exhibition and Charity Donation Drive
To Our Members, Friends and Supporters,
The New York Artists Equity Association was founded in 1947 on the egalitarian principle of “equity.” As such, its trustees, staff, and member artists stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and fully support lawful public protests condemning police violence.
Given current conditions, we have deemed “commerce as usual” to be at best tone deaf, at worst dismissive of George Floyd’s death and the pain inflicted upon his family members and all those, past and present, that have been the victims of overt and institutionalized racism.
Rather than move forward with our normal online programming, we asked our community of fellow artists and art professionals to submit artworks created to support the just protests. We are featuring their contributions in our online show titled “Equity and Justice” on the Equity Gallery website and on our social media feeds from Fri. June 12th through Fri. June 19th. The works for sale will have all proceeds directly donated to one of the designated organizations noted below, as selected by the artist. We believe these organizations are sensitive to the range of issues currently at stake, as well as align with NYAE’s continuing efforts to support an equitable and just future.
Thank you for your submissions and continued support!
