As part of a new workshop series at Equity Gallery, Charlotte Kent, PhD, is offering a special three-part Imagineering and writing clinic that focuses on the creative development of imagery and narratives that help shape a distinctive artistic identity for a vast, complex and mutable art market. The series takes the artists’ statement as both the beginning and end point of artistic discourse –and utilizes its myriad literary forms and communicative potentialities. Each session will be devoted to developing singular talking points unique to one’s studio practice by situating the work within a larger historical and critical context. Presentation models will assist in the translation and codification of talking points and curated imagery into compelling stories suitable for short social media posts, extended essay captions or long-form bios, artist statements and press releases. Lastly, the clinic will explore communication channels and networking platforms with the aim of developing channel appropriate text, imagery and verbal content to further advance one’s artistic identity.
