Equity Gallery is pleased to announce the Members Invitational, an annual juried group exhibition featuring the work of Artists Equity members. The exhibition will be on view from December 9, 2016 through January 14, 2017, with a public opening reception on December 9, 6-8pm.
The 11 artists selected for the Members Invitational are James Buxton, Vicki DaSilva, Sharon Florin, Ambre Kelly, Leni Liftin, Alan Neider, Kambui Olujimi, Josef-Peter Roemer, John Tomlinson, Tenesh Webber and Deborah Winiarski. The exhibition will feature paintings, prints, sculptures and photography.

MEMBERS INVITATIONAL 2016 JURY
David Clements is an Associate Director at Tanya Bonakdar Gallery, one of the leading contemporary art galleries representing internationally recognized artists like Olafur Eliasson, Ernesto Neto, Susan Philipsz, Tomás Saraceno, and Gillian Wearing. Prior to joining Tanya Bonakdar Gallery, he was Director at Chambers Fine Art, one of the first galleries to specialize in Chinese contemporary art, where he worked closely with artists such as Ai Weiwei, Song Dong and Yin Xiuzhen. Clements also served as the Co-Chair of the Contemporary Circle at MoMA PS1 for many years and is currently the Co-Chair of the Steering Committee for the Performa Visionaries.
Jill Conner is an art critic, curator, and photographer based in New York City. She is the New York Editor of Whitehot Magazine, co-owner of the Lazy Susan Gallery, and the founder of AS | ARTISTS STUDIOS. She is a Board Member of AICA-USA as well as a contributor to Afterimage, ArtUS, Art in America, Interview Magazine, Performance Art Journal, and Sculpture Magazine. Since 2013, Conner has served as a Visiting Critic to Art OMI, LMCC, Woodstock/Byrdcliffe, the School of Visual Arts MFA Fine Arts Program, as well as the New York Art Residency Program (NARS), Brooklyn Art Space, Art OMI, The Wassaic Project and Residency Unlimited. Conner has been a guest curator for the Dorsky Gallery Curatorial Programs in Long Island City and at 33 Orchard in Manhattan. In 2016, Conner provided mentorship to artists at the 104th Annual Conference of the CAA in Washington, D.C.
Emie Diamond is Founder of The Curateur Collective LLC, an organization that curates site-specific exhibitions featuring early career/ emerging artists. Diamond has prior experience working for an art advisor, auction house, and contemporary art gallery. She received a Masters degree from Harvard University, where she wrote her dissertation "A New Era: An Analysis of the Contemporary Art Market Bubble.” Diamond completed her undergraduate studies at the American University of Rome and Salve Regina University. In addition, she is a member of the Guggenheim Acquisitions Committee, the Junior Associates of the Museum of Modern Art, and she actively supports the New York Academy of Art.
Peter Gynd is an independent curator and fifth generation artist whose practice centers around an exploration of landscape and its relationship with the body. Gynd studied old masters oil painting techniques with his mother Ursula Medley and at the Vancouver Academy of Art before receiving a BFA in Glass from the Alberta College of Art & Design in 2006. Gynd moved to New York in early 2011 and has exhibited work in the US and Canada. Gynd has curated exhibitions at SPRING/BREAK Art Show 2015, New York NY; Lesley Heller Workspace, New York, NY; Present Company, Brooklyn, NY; Galerie Protégé, New York, NY; NARS Foundation, Brooklyn, NY; 440 Gallery, Brooklyn NY; the Northside Festival, Brooklyn, NY; Dynamo Arts Association, Vancouver Canada; and most recently a permanent exhibition at the Foundation Center, New York, NY. Gynd currently works as director at Lesley Heller Workspace and lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
Emily Lenz is Director and Partner at D. Wigmore Fine Art, Inc, a New York gallery focused on American Art from 1900 to 1980. The gallery identifies important movements in American art that have fallen into obscurity and revitalizes them through research, exhibitions, and collaborations with museums and scholars. The gallery has received numerous reviews from The New York Times, The Brooklyn Rail, and The New Criterion. Lenz's articles on abstraction of the 1930s and 1960s have appeared in American Fine Art Magazine and American Art Review. Lenz graduated from Princeton University, where she studied art history and finance. She is an advisory board member of Silvershed, an artist-run space, and is active in the Apollo Circle at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Junior Associates at the Museum of Modern Art.
